Ihre Instrumente sind Plattenspieler, ihre Kunst ist jene des TurntablismProgramme Text
When Maria Chavez, Mariam Rezaei, and Victoria Shen take to the stage, the room crackles, crunches, scratches, bursts, sizzles, and burns. Their instruments are turntables, their art is turntablism, they experiment and improvise with doctored vinyl and self-made sound recording devices. They scratch, sample, and loop; breakbeats emerge from fragments tenths of a second long. Records are played with needles set in artificial acrylic fingernails, and they demonstrate how this sonic nail can be wielded with two to five fingers at once.
