Program text

The music of Lyra Pramuk consists solely of vocals and voices. On her debut album Fountain, she sang in all the vocalisations and then manipulated them electronically: In this way, she sings with herself in a choir; you hear god-fearing hymns and buoyant barbershop harmonies; it sounds like people, men and women, of every age and every background – but it is always Lyra Pramuk divesting herself in a confrontation with herself. She spent her childhood in Pennsylvania, in Berlin she delved into the techno scene and discovered her voice as a transfeminine person: Fountain celebrates the experience of transition, the beauty of becoming and plurality – you can call it posthumanist folk.
