Dark romanticism from the depths of history and ominous sounds of the future set the tone for Die Wilde Jagd, one of Berlin producer Sebastian Lee Philipp’s ongoing projects. Soft, ghostly sounds float above the motoric rhythms of kraut rock; a stoic beat sequencer carries yearning voices; and sometimes the beats drag a loop, like in a dub echo chamber. The music of Die Wilde Jagd evokes and honours the spirits of nature, but also the spirit of machines. The most beautiful piece on the new album Haut is called “Himmelfahrt”, which concludes with a voice singing “Simsalabim”.
