SOUND
Rattling, scraping, grinding, gristling, throbbing—old rhythm machines creak forward in an uncertain future. With kraut rock motorics and punk rock monotony, the duo TORESCH imbue dream-like states, which you often can’t place as daydreams or nightmares. Detlef Weinrich’s rhythms and bass tills the groove for Viktoria Wehrmeister’s snarls and murmurs in a hybrid fantasy language of English, Spanish, and German. Some of their music seems to drift out of the depths of post-punk disco history, but most seems to come from the even deeper depths of the unconscious.
