SOUND

Swedish composer Ellen Arkbro generates epic, longheld, imperceptibly shifting drones; a sonic spray of dark glittering textures of noise powders its listeners; not unlike the sounds Sunn O))) use to conjure the meditative power of pure noise. Only that Arkbro likes to create her compositions on pipe organs, tuned in unusual, unfamiliar ways. Technically, her music is highly complex, yet oddly intimate and touching. Her concerts are a transcendental experience.
