Nowhere else in the world is notion of an evaluation society more fitting than in China. While the state is implementing a “social credit system” on a big data basis, around 400 million citizens observe the output of fiercely competing online performers. Their live streams have become financial assets with which they and investors can earn a lot of money – or not. In his documentary Hao Wu follows two social media stars on their way between fame and depression.
