The most extraordinary, hard-hitting beats of the hour are coming from an underground club in Shanghai: The Shelter is a hub for a scene of Chinese artists who draw their inspiration from old industrial to newer genres like dubstep and grime. The producer and DJ Hyph11E also comes from there. On her 2017 debut EP Vanishing Cinema she layers razor-sharp metallic beats over uneasy drones and groaning voices: a dystopian fantasy from a posthuman world, which we should dance to while we still can.
