SOUND
She plays dark smouldering drones on the church organ and sings along with her virtuous quivering soprano voice. For her, it is a fi ght against the instrument, it is about the strength it takes from her. But Anna von Hausswolff also weaves radiant melodies, with Mellotron sounds that strive for the atmospheric, and is accompanied by a band that earths her sacral yearning and turns it into songs. The music of the Swedish singer and composer is about darkness and the promise of light – but in her endless prolongations of time she also heralds a salvation that will never come.
