SOUND
The music of James Leyland Kirby alias The Caretaker is about memory and forgetting. His songs often sound as if they were being played from worn-out shellac records or wafting from faint childhood memories, as if in the in-between state of a daydream. In his six-part album series Everywhere at the End of Time, which he wrapped up in 2019, he devoted himself to sonically interpreting the effects of Alzheimer’s disease: an elemental, touching artistic gesture, which draws deeply from the human condition. The visual setup for his show is staged by the London-based video artist Weirdcore.
