John Gerrard programs real-time simulations of objects, storylines, and camera movements. In Western Flag (Spindletop, Texas) a camera circles around a pole driven into the sand of a digitally replicated site of an exhausted oil well in Texas, which is topped by a flag generated by an incessant stream of black smoke. Exercise (Djibouti) varies circular running exercise routines of computer-generated, uniformed athletes, while Flag (Danube), reminiscent of an oil spill, portrays the ever-changing play of light and reflections on the river surface.

Flag (Danube) can be seen during the Project "as waves go by" on Sunday, May 6.
