His music celebrates the beauty of repetition and the joys of minimalism. Already in the late 70s with his first band Ash Ra Tempel, Manuel Göttsching was a master of deceleration and minimalist variation. He worked with tape recorders and later with the first sequencers to compose his works with loops. From the geist of Krautrock he created early forms of techno: At donaufestival Göttsching plays his legendary one-hour track “E2-E4” from 1981, relased in 1984 – a milestone of electronic music.
