DJ Taye was originally a rapper and beat tinkerer until he became part of the Teklife Crew and made the jump into the world of footwork, dance, and DJing. The death of Teklife legend DJ Rashad in 2014 ultimately inspired the young talent to the sounds and ideas on his latest album “Still Trippin”. The album is marked by rhythmic diversity, precisely programmed beats, and catchy melodies. The tight bond between dance and sound as an indivisible experience is clearly at the forefront here, but Taye’s often hyperfast beats constantly enhance it with unpredictable components.
