Hard and soft are no opposites for them: They produce noise cascades with a brittle clarity and dance music for futuristic bodies. J’Kerian Morgan, who operate as a DJ and producer under the name Lotic, is an unremitting and inventive eclectic. They fuse cold shards of avant-garde r’n’b with stumbling footwork and trap beats – parallel, sound fragments of scores that György Ligeti could have composed, but also irresistible pop melodies, shredded and then reassembled. A rich, endlessly transforming – in the truest sense of the word – queer music.
