Moor Mother calls her music “slaveship punk”. It deals with the liberation from slavery and the never-ending reign of racism in the USA. The artist from Philadelphia accentuates harsh industrial noise and grating beats with her heartrending, lamenting vocals. A historiography of suffering and bravery unravels in interwoven choirs of murmuring voices and whispering sounds. At donaufestival she performs with the industrial and dub pioneers Justin Broadrick and Kevin Martin, who make their music together under the name ZONAL: a trio of fierce rage and endless refusal.
